The 2009 Michele Chiarlo Le Orme Barbera D'asti Superiore is a light bodied wine, with fruity plum notes. It is food friendly, with slightly higher acidity, subtle tannins (decant for 15 min) and a bit hot finish of short to medium length. Drink now or hold for couple of years. My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL, 86 pts - expected more as the 'Superiore' designation means that the wine was aged in oak for 6 or more months, yet no woody notes seem to be present. Tasted March/12.
