Wonderfully aromatic, the room where I opened the wine just filled with floral and red fruit aromas. Plenty of ripe fruit on the palate, with fine structure and acidity. Still seems a bit primary to me - perhaps a year or two in bottle would bring out more complexity. Up $2 in price over the '07, but still worth the $19 price tag. Tasted March 2012.
Maybe I had to high expectations.
It would be unfair though to speak of disappointment. This is a very nice wine, bound to improve in another 2 years, albeit it won't increase it's complexity, but just layer more neatly what it already has.
Not as impressed as I thought I'd be given how closely my tastes mirror John's. Definitely fruit forward with a good finish -- but then there ought to be at this price (I know: I expect anything above $15 to outperform!). But I've been to Languedoc, and this one doesn't distinguish itself in any remarkable way for me.
