I tried this wine based on it being on Mr. Thurlow's value list, and was stunned at the complexity of it for such an inexpensive wine. It's a little heavy on the fruity and apple-y notes, but does have some balance. Long finish.
Beeswax, cut grass, peaches, and apricots on the nose. It has crisp acidity and is medium-bodied. Despite some creaminess the acidity is, however, someone overwhelming. Pretty good value nonetheless.
60-40 Sauvignon-Semillon blend. Clean, crisp, with notes of citrus, tree fruit and gooseberry. The sauvignon blanc character really shines though. Good complexity and length for so little $. Remarkable value. Tasted Jan 2013.
A nice drink for such a low price!
Ended up trying this one by myself when everyone left dinner early due to me becoming upset when they failed to abide by Parisian Le Dîner etiquette.
Astica means 'flower' in the indigenous Huarpe language - so you might want to remove the label or else the bottle return depot guys will joke about you during their lunch break
