The 2010 Zonin Ripasso Valpolicella Superiore is a medium bodied, fruity wine, with intense aromas of dried prune, dates, black cherry and oak on the nose and blueberry and vanilla on the palate. It has a nice acidity, subtle to refined tannins (decant for 30-60 min) and the finish is medium to long and smooth. It is food friendly and is enjoyable by itself, drink now-2018. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - recommended buy - nice treat from the General section. Tasted Nov/12.

This wine dazzled me back in 2007 but then fell from grace with the 2008 vintage. I am happy to report that the Italian producer is back-on-track with their 2009 vintage.
Aromas of red fruit and smoke prelude the juicy core and noticeable sweetness; cherries and raspberries abound with a lovely smooth finish. A mid-weight unassuming Ripasso that will sip well on its own but will also pair nicely with a tomato based dish. Tasted Feb 2012.
Description: Dark ruby in colour with a medium+ intensity on the nose.
Positives: Cedar, sour cherry, raspberry, mulberry & plums. Medium body with medium minus tannins, good acidity and medium length.
Negatives: Way too musty.
Pair this with pizza.
