The 2005 Laborum Syrah, aged in oak for 12 months, is a medium to full bodied, FRUITY to integrated wine, with intense aromas of ripe coffee and cedar on the nose and blackberry and black cherry on the palate. It has a nice structure with refined tannins (decant for 15-30 min) and a long finish, though a bit alcoholic. Drink now-2018. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 91.5 pts - highly recommended wine. Tasted Feb/12.

This wine has quite a beautiful bright ruby color with just a subtle hint of bricking. The nose is full of red fruit - cassis and cherry with a fair amount of spice. With a bit of time in the glass I also picked up some dried fruit/prune. The palate is fruit foward, spicy, and quite woody and hot. It has some poise when it first hits your palate but the finish comes quickly, emphasising the wood and alcohol and some drying tannin. Nonetheless, I did enjoy this wine overall.
