This is a Giant of a wine that is Super good. Like Madonna’s half time show. Its old, carefully crafted, has a lot of fruit and a little spice. Lip-sync to your favorite over-produced song while serving this with some flank steak.
I'm in love! This wine will surely lure you into the boudoir this Valentine's day with it's silky sultry smoothness. It's typical Rioja. Wonderful nose with vanilla, chocolate and sweet ripe fruit. It's medium bodied so don't expect a macho-macho wine.
Colour: cherry, garnet rim. Nose: balanced, expressive, ripe fruit, sweet spices, cocoa bean. Palate: flavourful, fleshy, long, round tannins. Score: 90 (Peñín Guide to Spanish Wine, 2010)
The 2004 Finca Nueva Reserva is a medium bodied, integrated wine, with appealing aromas of red currant, cherry, prune, leather and sandalwood. Tannins are refined (decant for 30 min) and the finish is long and smooth. Though ready to drink, this wine was made with ageability in mind and should evolve gracefully for another 5-10 years. My impression: NICE to BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - recommended buy. Tasted Feb/12.
