March 2012
A well balanced and just-complex-enough Grenache. Not a very noticeable nose, it's light and doesn't give away much. The palate is dark, cooked cherries and blackcurrants. It's got a hint of citrus, lemon, cocoa with minerality. Nonetheless it is overall very strong on condensed fruit with a nice finish. Very good to excellent. Tasted December 2011.
Tasted March 2014. Lovely rich wine here - loads of ripe fruit with some nice earthy, savoury herbal complexity. The tannins are still very much there but held somewhat in check by juicy acidity. I don't get a lot of the medicinal elements others have noted. Finish is medium. the fruit makes this a very quaffable wine.
Medicinal herbs is an interesting way to describe what is wrong with this wine. Using a caraffe helped a bit, and the wine did grow on me over time.
