This is from one of the warmest appellations of Spain, that is heavily planted to old tinto de toro (tempranillo)...

Fully mature, slightly oxidative, with the vestiges of wood flavour still in evidence; sun-dried tomato, olive...

A well-evolved Tempranillo showing pretty spiced plum and forest floor on the nose. A mealy texture on the palate...

One of the best wines I've tasted in years. Drank it October 2013, aged beautifully. Mellow taste but full body with hints of spice, smoke and leather. Now saying one of the best in years, let it be known that my price limit on wine is $20. Wish I could find a few cases for the cellar.

In the glass this is a very dark and very aromatic wine. I was smelling it before I got it to my nose. There's a rich earthiness with vanilla, smoke, tobacco and lots of ripe, dark fruit and black liquorice. The long mouth-coating finish is big with all the fruit and liquorice, and for another high alcohol wine, it is very smooth.

Extremely versatile for pairing. Rich, full bodied, full of berries with beautiful finish. Extremely good value!

Me likey very much, but this wine needs to lay down for a couple more years. Purple teeth staining, deep violet in the glass. Rich chocolate cherry and earth brewed w/ strong coffee on the nose. Saskatoonberry acidity, chewy choco tannins, full body and ripe finish. Drink 2015 or tonite with bbq smoked pork chops or braised lamb shanks. Tasted Nov '11

dark and structured wine - rustic earthy mud flavours - full bodied, nice solid back bone - not delicious though.

Rich, slightly jammy; blackberry with pepper on the nose; somewhat gritty tannins; dark fruit and spice on palate.

Lots of flavour and complexity here. I do not agree with "impeccable balance", there is a minor taste that should not be there. But for the price, I will be buying more of this.

I bought it again, and it was barely drinkable. The oxidative, gritty, meaty parts of the reviews came through. This one is off my list.
