One of the better value Shiraz wines
Screw top. Ripe red fruits, blackberry and currants aromas with touch of barnyard. Uncomplicated and quite straightforward with currant and blackberry flavours on the palate. Fresh tasting with very nicely integrated oak, not your typical big Aussie Shiraz. A very good, everyday, house-style of table wine. Tasted Mar/2012.
While there was some nice berry flavours here, it is not what I would come to expect from a typical Aussie shiraz. I would have expected some pepper, spice, chocolate or something. I appreciated the subtle approach, but I feel that it fell flat. The flavours didn't seem to come together very well, nor can I speak of a rather great finish. A decent wine, but nothing special. One thing that didn't appreciate was the black tongue after drinking. We can all expect some degree of colour when drinking red wine, but this needs to be filtered before drinking.
Standard Aussie Shrazz for the price point. Deep ruby colour with violet and purple tinge. Immediate aromas of tar, rubber, vanilla and dark cherry. Full body, medium rich mouthfeel, low acid and big fruit extract. Nice dark cherry, blackberry, and licorice-tar like flavours. Enjoy with bacon burgers or steak with blah blah blah spice sauce. Drink now till 2014, tasted Jan '12.
