Although I am new to this, one thing both Sara and John left out, that is of very high interest to me, neither mentioned the cellaring capacity of this wine. I was just given this bottle as a gift and decided to put it away for a special occasion. It would be great when you review a wine to give us your opinion on its' cellaring condition and not just this one but all your reviews.
I agree with the reviews, but it has enough complexity and finish to rate a little higher.
Great complex wine. The nebbiolo profile shines in this vintage with notes of rose, spice, blackberry and fig.
Certainly a traditional Nebbiolo, with pale red colour, flavours of sour cherries and dried fruit, followed by firm tannin. Yet I found the wine just a bit too sour/tart, as if the grapes were not quite fully ripened. Still, I did admire the authenticity of this wine in a world of increasingly faceless wines. I suggest giving this 2-3 more years in bottle. Tasted May 2012.
