Nose:
spicy green pepper/ cherry/ earthy soil/ farm land.
Palette:
Medium body (little on the light side) with a silkyness to it. Nice spicy green bell pepper and cherry taste. Impressive structure and gripping tannins, with a fresh tight finish. A great buy for sure!
In the glass, this wine made from the Cabernet Franc grape shows a ruby red colour with moderate extraction. Colour and depth what is to be expected from a Loire Cab Franc.
Herbaceous and smoky nose, also notes hints of cherry.
On the palate it shows a medium body weight. Cherry and raspberry fruits, hints of smoke and tobacco, and herbaceous undertones. Nice balance of fruit and acid.
(tasted August 2011)
Great Chinon example of freshness, fruit, spice and slight richness from oak. Medium violet, with light violet rim. Fresh cedar, peppercorn and clove spice aromas when first opened, give way to ripe bing cherry, red current. The nose of the wine really opens to toasty wood and fragrant spice with tart fruit. The palate follows the nose and even the tannins are a blend of wood and ripe fruit. The touch of leather on the finish make this wine call for braised short rib, jus and herbed mash. Let this wine mellow for 2 yrs. Tasted Oct '11
Dense, savoury, earthy with lithe structure. Once past these adjectives, this wine is excellent, yet lacks an "oomph" factor to give it distinct character. Tasted Sep2011.
