Quite cooked/maderized and oxidized on the nose, much like decent quality vermouth, with a range of wood-derived...

An antique wine with great mellow palate and wonderful fragrance. 17.95

I wasn't sure if I loved it or hated it. In the end it won me over.

Browning red, this has evolved quite a bit. Huge, in-your-face nose of alcohol, pepper and a ton of sweet, jammy fruit. This wine grabs your attention. You can smell the ripeness and concentration even through the 15.9%(!) alcoholic prickle. This had a very direct, mid-palate blast of sweet cherry, sour cherry, cranberry, earthy chocolate and alcoholic heat. Tannins are modest and almost overpowered by the concentrated fruit and alcohol. A really interesting wine for the price. Great with sweet BBQ meats and chocolate cake!

Oh my goodness. I LOVED THIS WINE! From the first sniff to the last drop, this was the winner for me at my recent Shiraz wine club tasting. Rich, full-bodied, yet mellow and amazing with chocolate. I'll definitely be picking up a few bottles to have around the house.

Enjoyable, but very heavy on the fruit. A bit overwhelming for my palate. The 2005 version was much more subtle.

Tasted Jan 2012 - This has just reappeared on LCBO store shelves well over a year after it was first released - did they misplace a skid of it? Murky brownish purple in the glass and now well past its prime - (avoid).

Tasted Dec 2010 - At 15.9% alcohol, this is another big bold Aussie Shiraz and one that is nicely in sync. The nose is incredibly fragrant showing intense black fruit, spice box, and notes of chocolate; mouth-coating flavours smoothly slide across the palate to leave a tingling sensation of cracked pepper heat on the finish. I’m thinking BBQ wine here - (88).

Not particularly memorable. Lingering taste of raisins.

Medium garnet colour. Very viscous tears. Intense aromas of dark cherries, plum, pepper, toast and tar with light notes of potpourri. Definitely developing. Evident VA. Bright, lifting acidity. Well integrated high alcohol. Flavours of dried strawberries, black currants, spice and dry forest floor.

This wine was very hot at first and I couldn't get over the alcohol concentration. After giving it some time in the glass it became a lot easier to drink and the taste took on a more fruity tone.
