Tobacco and spice with a pepper note. Very smooth, good value. It really benefits fom an hour in a carafe to reduce the initial manure bouquet and bring out the flavours.
The 2007 Vecchia Cantina Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano is a medium to full bodied wine, with nice aromas of integrated strawberry, cherry, oak and coconut. It has a nice, food friendly structure with refined tannins (decant for 15 to 30 min) and a smooth, medium to long finish. Drink now or cellar for 5 to 10 years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 90 pts - recommended buy. Tasted Oct/11.

What great aromatics on this Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano with aromas of cherry, blackcurrants, leather, earthy and savoury notes. The palate has loads of energy and length with lively acidity and firm tannins. This wine finishes with long red fruit and savoury flavours and fine grained tannins. I am a strong believer that Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano wines are where you find the best value from Tuscany. An awesome wine, superb aromatics (very important for me) and need I say, strongly recommended.
Nice maturing deep red colour, just starting to brown. This is evolving quickly.
Initially tight nose opened to a warm, savory bouquet of olive, fresh herbs and leather. Very little fruit on the nose or palate. This is very much a rustic, old-world style. Dense flavours but medium bodied, good acidity. Plenty of drying tannin. Excellent food wine.
This has life left in it but I'd say it's drinking at it's prime now to a couple years from now. I suspect this will become increasingly dusty as what fruit it has dries out.
Decent complexity with flavours of red cherries, and leather along with earthy notes. Fine acidity and smooth tannin make this a good food wine. Won't appeal to those looking for a massive fruit bomb but rather to those looking for regional character and complexity.
