Could be the bargain of the year!
91, tasted August 2011
Dark ruby in colour with medium+ intensity on the nose.
Positives: Classic Faugères notes of cassis, licorice & leather. But it doesn't stop there. You'll also find tamarind, raspberry, plum, cherry, red currants & arugula. Medium+ body, tannins & acidity with a very long finish.
Negatives: Found it a little watery.
Interesting Note: Hard to find Faugères at the LCBO.
Drink now on its own or enjoy it with rack of lamb.

While its rare to find great value under $20 from France, this one stands up ***
Very nice traditional style syrah. Too bad I did not try it in time to get more.
Loaded with ripe dark fruit, dried meat, herbs and smoke. Seductive with fine depth and structure. The syrah really shows here to my taste. A bit more pricey than other wines from the south of France, but worth the few extra $$.
Tasted February 2012.
Excellent medium body GSM wine with very smooth tannins, very typical of the Languedoc Roussillon region of southeast France. More complexity than you would expect for this price. Tasted April 2012.

While the nose is fresh with grapes and cherries, on the palate the wine is a bit closed. There are some cocoa and earthy notes on the short finish. I found the wine to be enjoyable but not excellent. It's on a par with Chateauneuf-du-Pape. Tasted January 2012.
nothing special
