The oak was initially quite apparent but became more subdued over time. The nose also needed time to open up and then it kept evolving over two to three hours. There was cassis, leather and a touch of smokiness on the palate. The elements were in harmony, and its balance and elegance was reminiscent of an "old world" style. The finish was slightly on the austere side with some tannins lurking around, but nonetheless it was a very enjoyable wine. A surprise for me. Highly recommended.
