full and deep... great rich color and nose, spicy on the back end..nice subtle heat..little oak, lots of fruit..
easily a several bottle evening with friends wine.
Soft, smooth and loaded with flavour. It has enough structure to keep the wine honest so it's not too goopy. It's well made & delicious. Great buy!!!
Medium+ purple to ruby in colour with medium+ intensity on the nose.
Positives: Notes of raisins, blueberry, mocha, allspice, raspberry & touch of vanilla. Medium body, good acidity, medium tannins & medium+ length.
Negatives: None
Interesting Things: This is not your powerhouse Zin with high alcohol, which will appeal to those that like Zins but don't want it as the main course for dinner.
Easy drinking on its own or pair it with venison.

Ravenswood Zinfadel Vintner’s Blend is my go-to wine. It’s a wine I absolutely love as it’s delicious. What you’ll find with this mouth-watering wine are seductive aromas of black cherry, raspberry, blueberry, and a splinter of oak. It pairs with a wide variety of foods, and it’s a wine that is a crowd pleaser. As such, whenever I’m hosting a dinner party, or a BBQ in the backyard, I often uncork a bottle of Ravenswood Zinfandel.
This is my house wine... or is it? I'm not so sure anymore.
On the nose aromas of plum, blackberries and vanilla. At first taste, the fruit is overpowering, it was almost too sweet and too boozy for my palate. But, after a few more sips and some aerating it definitely softened. My first taste of this Zin was back in 2005. Either my palate has matured or the quality is declining... I'm banking on the former. Still, it's a good, overall, drinkable crowd-pleasing wine but it's not blowing my mind anymore, especially at $17.95 per bottle.
Tasted Nov. 2011. A fairly simple straight forward Zin and a far cry from previous vintages I had enjoyed. flavours resemble a raspberry & plum fruitiness infused with a heavily steeped spiced black tea.
Shiny, deep ruby with violet tinge dans le glass. Spiced raspberry, cocoa powder, dried vanilla bean and flambeed cherries amongst thine nasal. Dry with medium tannins, this is a medium+ body Zin that is not over-extracted. Raspberry black tea, tobacco leaf and red currant dans la bouche with a med- finish. Solid but not overly complex. Pulled pork sammy or mesquite bbq chicken burgers would mingle nicely here. Drink till now 2013. Tasted Oct '11
Let's be honest its alcohol overwhelms the nicer elements of the nose such as ripe raspberry and cocoa. Medium to full body, with some slightly metallic tannins and heat on the finish. Second sip is less buringing than the first but I think I will have a hard time drinking more more than one glass in a session.
