This Pinot as a sophisticated bouquet of cherry, plums, savoury, violet and slight earthiness. On the palate, medium body with fresh acidity, well integrated tannins and cherry, chocolate and cedar flavours on the mouth fell. The finish is long with spicy cocoa. Very enjoyable and intense Pinot here, well done. Will keep my remaining bottle for a year or two.
Central Otago at it's finest. A perfect mouthful.
Deep red in colour, ripe dark plums, cherries, mocha and violets leap from the glass. Aging in French oak barriques (one third new) adds additional complexity, defined by savoury notes and cedar, spice and vanilla on the powerful, concentrated palate.
Medium minus ruby in colour with med intensity on the nose. The nose shows unmistakeable Pinot with light beetroot, rhubarb, cherry, strawberry, lightly smoked bacon, truffles & carnations. Overall med+ complexity on the nose. On the taste it's dry, med+ acidity, med minus tannins, long length & balanced. Cranberry, pomegranate, sour cherry, rhubarb & tobacco leaf. The nose is a lot nicer than the taste that I felt was too tart & lacked depth. Not a typical Central Otago Pinot, more like Marlborough Pinot.
