This easy-drinking tempranillo is a wonderful value. Spicy and breezy, nice blackberry fruit, tobacco leaf notes. Good balance, tannins need a wee bit of time.. let it sit for half an hour and it softens up nicely. Buy a case, and drink it now.
rich in flavour - thick taste - fruity undertones - excellent finish - ultimately a fine, inexpensive addition to my wine collection. Definately worth the buy and hold for 5 years to add to the experience.
Another example of why I love Spanish wines for value. Lots of lively-juicy-fruity-bang-for-your-buck here! Throw in an ever-so-slightly smoky black fruit quality and barely noticeable oak, and you've got fun, fresh juice with some character to boot. Couldn't ask for anything more at $12.95! Enjoyed May 2012
Dark ruby with a purple hue in the glass. The nose was dominated by blackberry and cherry notes, then gave way to a bit of vanilla and spice. Soft tannins, bright acidity, and a medium length fruit-filled finish make this an excellent value crowd-friendly wine. It's not mindblowing, but it's definitely pleasant. Tasted May 2012.
Tasted May 2011.
The 2009 Montebuena composed of 100% Tempranillo is medium bodied, with yogurty and (needlessly to say) fruity notes of strawberry and bilberry. Tannins are refined (decant for 15 min) and the finish is medium. This Rioja has a more of a French character than what it should be. My impression: NOTHING SPECIAL to NICE, 86 pts - though the price is right. Tasted Apr/11.
