H of P has earned an enviable reputation as a consistent producer of quality wine at a variety of tiers over several decades, and this very affordable rose is no exception. Apparently fashioned mainly from gamay, with a dollop of merlot, it has enticing colour and abundant fruit. Though some like 'em bone dry, I like the residual sugar level here, and the fact that it weighs in at a modest 11% ABV. It could benefit from a touch more acidity, but that's a quibble - it's clean, refreshing, and food-friendly. It's also well-priced at $15.95, and currently a steal on sale for $13.95. October 2025.
