90-91
This wine is evolving quickly, it shows a lot of bricking for a Barbaresco that's only been in the bottle for about 4 years.
Nice nose too: Dried fruit, slightly floral, some anise, a bit woody.
Medium-full bodied. Tannin already softening but still plenty of it. Good fruit concentration; tight at first but the flavours and complexity really come out with some mouth sloshing. Savory with some sweetness. Good long finish.
Drinking well now but will certainly hold for a few more years.
A fine wine though not exactly worth the price.
Bought on sale at $38. Ready now. Drank with wild mushroom and lamb risotto with tomato sauce - perfect pairing. Cherries, leather, earthy, long finsih. 90+, very nice. Maybe not worth the list price.
Good Barbaresco with a lightly garnet colour. Plesently rustic nose with a big note of anise. Mid-weight with mouth puckering tannins and a long, solid finish. This wine demands to be enjoyed with a hearty meal.
Garnet in colour with tawnied rim. Generous nose of dried fruits, strawberry, caramel, with sweet cinnamon and nutmeg spices. The palate is medium-bodied and has grippy tannins (especially sensed in the finish). Dried fruits, toffee, cinnamon, pecan flavours. Generous length. Lay it down a while or serve with some protein to mop up the tannins. Feb 2011.
This 2004 Dante Rivetti Bricco Riserva Barbaresco is a quite atypical Barbaresco, with a profile that is very pleasant, but for sure not traditional. It is medium bodied and integrated, with nice aromas of yogurty cherry and coconut. Tannins are refined (decant for 1 hour) and the finish is long. It is good to drink now or can be cellared for the next 5 to 10 years. My impression: BEAUTIFUL, 88 pts - quite expensive at the original price of $46.95, now bit better at $38.35 (I guess I am not the only one noticing its unusualness). Tasted Sept/11.
