Wow, this is one fine big red wine. Inky purple shows some big extraction. Plum, black currant, black cherry, leather, spice, oak,
Very complex nose and taste. Everything I took a sip I noticed something different.
Great acidity, very food friendly.
Drink now but consider cellaring a few for 5+ years to see how this one develops. A fanastic buy!
Pouring immediately from the bottle revealed a cigar-like cedar aroma with the ubiquitous autumn spices filling the nose. Left for an hour or more this initially austere cab would inspire a far more complex, more mature memory of damp leather and after rain earth.
A velvety, Bond-like smoothness filling every nook and cranny of the mouth with walnut skin, oily ripe black fruits and dark chocolate covered raisins. Still spicy, but in all the right ways with a very alluring and come-hither finish.
Think Monica Belluci in seamed black stockings and you have this wine personified.
Wow, a big wine for sure, almost black in color. The palate is complex with black cherries, dark plums, currents, pencil shaving, leather and earthy. Full bodied, with monster tannins and good acidity. Long earthy, austere tannins and a bit tart on the finish. Nice wine now but will be much better in two or three years.
Nov 2012: How is it that grape varieties change so when they cross the Alps into Italy? Certainly so with Pinot Nero and Pinot Grigio, and so with this "Cabernet Sauvignon." Tuscan to its soul. CS is suggested by its dark colour and cedary notes, but flavours are very Italian: ripe fruit, but rooted in earth, with puckering tannins begging for something rich. If there's oak, it's blended in not standing out. Long and satisfying, with the high alcohol nicely integrated. Yummy.
