VERY good offering from #99 himself. Lead/pencil/graphite, smoke aromas. All remain on the palate + cassis notes and blackberry. Medium-full bodied with a long finish. Chalky tannins that would have rewarded 2-3 years in the cellar, but definitely enjoyable now. Tasted May/2011.
well worth the effort. Lots of pepper, with hints of cherry at the end. Lovely bottle
Lovely dark fruit on the nose with dried fruit as well. Nice continuation of dark fruit on the palate with tar and liquorice as well and some nice dusty tannins. A couple of years left on this one. Medium to long finish.
This wine is currently on sale at LCBO Vintages locations while supplies last. There isn't a lot left so hurray and grab a bottle or two while you can.
Taste notes of dark cherry, blackberry. cassis with an underlining hint of smokiness. Really opens up if you decant for a half hour or so.
It's just pretty good, not great
Despite the reputation of 2007 as a great vintage in Ontario, I've had very spotty results with cellaring the 2007 reds. As 2013 draws to a close, I must report that this one is another disappointment. Although there is clearly some good underlying fruit, for me this wine is predominantly woody and astringent, with an unpleasant iodine note. This is a quality I usually associate with the use of American oak, which often shows well in the first few years, and then falls apart. Pity.
