very good.
Amazing red for this price.
Smooth, balanced, and delicious.
Nice quality red wine from Tuscany creared by the decendents of the poet Dante Alighieri. Tastes of berries (blackberries and blueberries). Medium-bodied, elegant and with slight hint of vanilla. Goes well with pasta ,BBQ chicken, pork, ribs, roast duck and lamb chops.
Medium ruby-red coloured with a subdued nose. It struck me as a little young and perhaps should have been decanted. I found that this had a surprising amount of body given that the blend is so similar to Chianti...perhaps it's the vineyard's proximity to Montalcino that helps infuse more fruit. This wine had a long, peppery finish and is a real value at under $15.
Masi Serego Alighieri Poderi Del Bello Olive 2007, which is made up of 80% Sangiovese, 15% Canaiolo and 5% Ciliegiolo, has a medium body with nicely aromatic, fruity notes of yogurty strawberry, black currant and cedar. It has subtle tannins (decant for 15 min) and faintly metallic, medium finish. This wine is not meant for aging and should be drunk in short term. My impression: NICE, 88 pts. Tasted in Nov/10 during Italian wine tasting, where it was liked but was not one of the most popular ones.
