The colour is translucent garnet with a wide brick rim. Some complexity on the nose with notes of cherry, cranberry, raspberry, red licorice, forest floor, leather, thyme, mint, pepper, smoke, and hints of clove. Dry on the palate with medium body. Tannins are medium and very fine. Acidity is medium with very good length.
What a beauty. Finesse defines it. This is a light, delicate yet complex and multilayered delicious wine. There's a smoky quality in the palate that comes through in harmony with cherries and subtle acidity, setting the stage for a lengthy lingering peppery feel. This wine really showcases the personality in one of Jura's very own varietals.
Great to try a grape and region that is new to me. Nice juicy acidity set in a mature framework of dried fruit, black pepper and leather. No tannins to speak of. I would drink this up in the next year or so.
