This is textbook Barbera d’Alba and makes me wonder why I don’t have Barbera more often, especially considering its food friendliness. Dark ruby in colour, open plummy fruit with underbrush notes on the nose, it is a generous mouthful of tangy plummy cherry fruit with good concentration of flavours and wonderful freshness tailing off to a moderately long finish. Another winner from Marco Porello and his patch of Piedmontese dirt.
