Colombo tackles Cairanne in a very high-toned way, with terse and intense fruit in the ways of syrah nearly combed...

It's only wine but I like it

Slightly less exuberant Cairanne here from JL Colombo. Savoury, meaty, black pepper tinged dark fruit had me thinking this had a large portion of Syrah. The back label says otherwise, only 20%, the rest being Grenache. Oak (if any) is virtually undetectable, Complex and long finish. Nice wine indeed. I think originally priced at $22, the price shown here was after it was discounted. No need to hold any longer. Tasted Dec 2021.

An 80/20 blend of Grenache and Syrah, this has a medium+ intensity nose that is savoury with spicy, dark berry, raspberry, and floral characters with a touch of reduction. It's medium-full bodied with refined, textured tannins that are a touch chalky, which play nicely with the fresh, clean, and energetic acids. Very nice aroma replays that continue on the long, succulent finish. Tasted Nov/2019.
