Mostly Syrah, along with lesser amounts of Grenache and Carignan. Like all Chapoutier wines, terroir is emphasized with no heavy use of wood - in fact, no wood at all in this red as it is aged in concrete. Fine dark fruit, ripe but not overdone, with black pepper, herbs and spice. To my taste, this is not quite up to the brilliant '16, but it is a fine southern French red. Might be worth holding another year to see if this improves further, but it is enjoyable now. Tasted Apr 2021.
