It had aromas of cassis along with other dark fruit. I was surprised with how balanced the wine was. I was expecting the tannin's to over power the wine for a while, but right from the start it was petty smooth. It had a nice finish best described as spiced oak. From when I first opened the bottle to my last glass about two hours later, I did not find that the wine evolved too much. I personally see no need to decant this wine.
Tasted October 2019
Good deep colour just starting to fade at the rim. Spicy, minerally nose with the fruit quite ripe but starting to shift into the dried spectrum. Med-full bodied, round, spicy, juicy with the tannins still quite firm. Just starting to enter it’s drinking window I’d say and will clearly hold for several more years.
This is my go-to wine. Medium bodied, very consistent, dry, goes with most foods. None of the over the top flavours you find in wines nowadays that makes them taste artificial.
