A 2014 Malbec with 22% Cabernet Sauvignon (co-fermented) from Paraje Altamira, Argentina, just outside Mendoza. These vines are planted at an altitude of 1.2 kilometers and are irrigated by the melt runoff from the Andes Glaciers. Altitude offers the perfect storm for growing grapes (hot days, cool nights, good drainage). Blackberry jam, cassis, mint, violets, earth, mushroom, coffee, cinnamon, vanilla. The finish lingers quite a while with coffee and orange zest. Intense aromas and flavors. Great example of Malbec, Argentina's signature grape.
