I spent all afternoon on Sunday cooking a cassoulet... when choosing which wine I'd open I came across this Côtes du Rhône in my newly arrived Wine Exchange shipment, and driven by impulse rather than thought I opened it. It paired very nicely. This CdR greets you with a predominantly red fruit nose, has lovely acidity in the palate, and a depth and length that you would expect to find in a much higher priced Châteauneuf-du-Pape

A blend of 55% Grenache, 15% Cinsault, 15% Syrah, 10% Carignan, and 5% Mourvèdre, this has medium-high intensity aromatics that are focused and energetic with dark berry, licorice, spice, and dark cherry notes. It is medium-full bodied with very good acidity on the structured, grippy palate. Pleasing dark berry, spice, and earthy mineral flavours. Excellent length on the mouth-watering finish. Drink over the next 6-8 years. Tasted Dec/2019.
