Vintage after vintage, Chapoutier's operation in the Roussillon produces this fine value, and the '17 is no
exception. Plummy ripe fruit, accented backed by notes of black pepper, local herbs and the vaguest hint of vanilla. Perhaps a bit more approachable than the '15 for example, but then this bottling is not meant for cellaring - just immediate enjoyment. Easy rec for multiple purchase and for those fast approaching bbq days. Tasted Feb 2019.
A blend of Syrah, Grenache and Carignan, this has a medium-high intensity nose of ripe dark and red berry, cherry, iron mineral, and plum aromas. It's medium-full bodied with supple, textured tannins that have some grip. Nice, juicy aroma replays with good length on the finish that ends with some dark berry and mineral notes. Tasted July/2019.
Great price for such authenticity while still being approachable for groups. Very good across the board
Tangy and fruity
