Beautiful Petite Sirah. Very Californian. Modern style, concentrated ripe dark fruit of blackberry, blueberry, brambly and concentrated. The fruit is starting to move to a prune-like stage. Violet florals too. Smokey, nicely integrated oak and some minerality peaks in like a hint of the scent of gravel after a rain shower. Decent acidity and plush tannin provide some structure holding it up and keeping the wine from being flabby. Excellent to outstanding length. Drinking nicely now, don't hold for too long. May 2020.

FIRST BOTTLE: I did not register anything in the area of a 93 pt. wine. My bottle was oxidized and hopefully not representative of the product. Or it is just bad. In any event this should be consumed sooner than later. UPDATE May 2019. Second bottle was far better. 90/91, Smooth, well integrated, nice mouth feel, etc. Well worth the second attempt. Ready now.

A 2015 Petite Syrah from Napa, California. Medium intensity aromas of dark purple fruit like blackberry and currant. Upon tasting, the wine feels thin and some bitterness comes through. The tannins are medium to high, prolonging the finish of mushroom and earth. In some situations that could be interesting but there's a sharpness to the aftertaste with high acidity and alcohol that just doesn't balance well. The fruit is completely lost on the tongue. Not liking this wine overall.
